My first serious interest in art-making came when I was required to take a mandatory art class in the 11th grade. There, I learned that art is very challenging, but also a learnable skill.

I went on to earn my BFA in Art Education with a teaching certification for PK-12. I taught part-time in schools for three of my four years in art school, and made a lot of art along the way.

Then, I earned my MA in Art Education in museums, during which I interned/worked in several art museums and art galleries. However, while SO busy in grad school, I stopped making art. In fact, in the summer of 2015, I was working at an art gallery outside of Denver, and my boss said to a customer, 

Apparently you have to make art to be considered an artist. Who'd have thought?

This was rude-awakening and I returned to art-making Spring 2016 after the completion of my masters degree.

Since then, I've fallen in love with illustration and making stories come to life. I now have a lovely studio in my home where I work primarily with gouache, watercolors, acrylics, and digital technology.

Finally, when I'm not in my studio, I love to read books about art cuddled up with my two cats, watch movies, and practice yoga.

What would you be if you weren't an artist?

Scientist or engineer.

Creative process?

I work best when I sketch in the evenings as I've found that's when I'm the most creative. Then, I transfer the final sketch to nicer paper. In the morning, I go into my studio and work on the final piece.
